Bertha Johnson, a widow. Hs went overseas last March. P.F.C. Etves, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Martin Etves, was wounded in action in France, his parents havs been notified. In a letter he revealed that he had sustained an eye injury. He is an infantryman and has been overseas since June. P.F.C. Nemeth, son of Mr.

and Mrs. John Nemeth, was slightly wounded In action on Leyte on Oct, 20, his parents have been Informed. He has been In the Pacific area 35 months. Marine P.F.C. Liiyster, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Raymond D. Luyster, received gunshot wounds in the leg in the Palau Islands, his parents have been notified. He was admitted to a hospital Sept. 28.

ANOTHER VICTIM of fighting in France, Sergeant Ott was wounded in the left thigh early in September, his wife, Arlene, was Informed. He has received both the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star medal for bravery. "I'm coming along fine and able to walk a little now," was his last message. Sergeant Mullay, now invalided to the States after being wounded In France, has received the Purple Heart and the expert combat Infantryman's badge.

Mullay went overseas In early 1914. Private Dolph wrote his Italian-born father from a French hospital that "Your country is pretty badly destroyed, Dad." BOONE MISSING Mystery surrounds the fate of Lieutenant Boone who took off on an overseas mission, as navigator of a B-24 on either Nov. 17 or 18 from New York City. He is now announced as missing over the American area on Nov. 19, but his parents have seen no account of a bomber missing and are further perplexed because the pilot's wife in another city has received a message saying her husband is missing over the "Italian-American area." Destination of the bomber was presumably Italy.

Boone Is an only son, and was last home in September. He Is a South high school graduate and worked at the B. F. Goodrich Co. Boone was also a former Beacon Journal carrier.

Another worried family, the Ruhmans await further news of Corporal Ruhman, flight engineer on a bomber missing over the Kurile islands on Nov. 18. Ruhman is the husband of Mrs. Helen Ruhman and the son of Mr. and Mrs.

Henry Ruhman of Bender R. D. 1. He went to the Pacific last August and had made at least two missions when lost. VOWS TO COME HOME "If you ever receive a telegram, don't believe what it says.

I'm coming home, no one can ever stop me," the flier wrote his wife shortly before he was lost, ss if with a premonition of disaster. He attended Coventry Twp. high school and was employed at the B. V. Goodrich Co.

A bright spot In today's casualty list is the news that another Akron flier, Technical Sergeant Wilcox, lost in action Sept. 24 over Hqlland is safe in a German prison camp. The good news reached Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wilcox yesterday.

The flier had completed 65 missions over Naziland when lost and had been decorated several times. He is a former East high school student and at the General Tire Rubber Co. ONE OF FOI SON'S of Mrs. Anna Reitenbach, a widow, Reiten-bach was wounded in France on Armistice day. He recently sent home his Purple Heart decoration.

He was formerly employed by the Goodyear Tire Rubber Co. Also decorated with the Purple Heart for wounds received In France late In the summer, is Private f'roHlpr, husband of Mrs. Mary Crosier and father of a 3-month-old son he has never seen. "I can walk now without a cane but my leg gets very tired," the soldier wrote home recently. Crosier had been overseas for three months when wounded.

He Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Crosier of Washington, D. C. Wounded in France early In October, Lieutenant Stonebraker was hit by shrapnel in both legs.

He had been overseas for 15 months when wounded and formerly served with the Ohio national guard. He now is recovering in a hospital in Italy. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stonebraker and the husband of Mrs.

Geraldine Stonebraker. Infantryman. He went overseas In August. Corporal Letterly, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Gus Letterly, died of a tropical disease in New Guinea. He had been in the army since May 1942, and had never been home on furlough. He went overseas in October 1942 and saw action on Munda, went to New Zealand for a rest and then sent on to New Guinea. He graduated from Medina high in 1936 and operated his own truck line before entering service. He has two brothers in service.

GUNNERS MISSING Another Akron member of the crew of an ill-fated B-17 lost in action over Germany Oct. 28 is Staff Sergeant Martins. Staff Sergt. Paul Keifer, announced yesterday as missing was on the same plane in which Martens is also declared lost. Both fliers were gunners.

By a coincidence, a third Akron district member of the same crew, George Sommervllle, of 520 Yale Barberton, waist gunner, cut his hand while cleaning a gun the day before, and was not allowed to go on the mission. and Mrs. Marshall Gordon have been informed. He had served overseas for six months. A brother Wilbert is in the army and a sis ter, Myrtle, is serving with the WACS in New Guinea. There are two other brothers at home.

Gor log. The dead navigator was the possessor of the Distinguished Flying jCross, the Air Medal with three 'Oak Leaf clusters and a Presidential Unit citation. He last visited home in July, shortly after completing his overseas missions. A former Barberton high school and State university student, Charles formerly was employed at the Columbia Chemical Co. 80. Private Koval died in southern France on Oct. 30. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs.

Andrew Koval. The Infantryman last wrote home from the French front three weeks before his death.
