He had a brief experience at the University of Akron. As a young adult, his love of baseball led him to coaching. His dedication developed winning teams.

His favorite conversation in his early years centered around baseball and his 17 close friends from Central and East High School. He also had experience at C.C.C. Camp. Fred was a member of the infantry, serving in World War II at Ft. Huachuca, Ariz.

He was a member of the Cornerstone Lodge 91 P.H.A., United Negro Improvement Association (U.N.I.A.), the Washington Park Forum, and the Greater Bethesda Baptist Church. Due to failing health, he spent his latter time attending service with his family, Renee and Rebecca, at the Greater Omega Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by six siblings: brothers, Roy, Sherman, Alfred (Buddy), Edward, and Chris; and sister, Hazel. To cherish his most precious memory, he leaves daughters, Cheryl (Errol) Sadler of Akron, and Renee of Chicago, grandchildren, Frederick and Claire Sadler, and Rebecca Wilson; brothers, Walter of Three Rivers, Rev.
