"Ed" Fielder, 67, of 830 Sumner retired director of the United Fund Labor Participation department, died Sunday in Akron" City Hospital after a short illness. CUYAHOGA FALLS Joseph V.

O'Connor, 78, president and founder of the O'Connor Lumber Co. at 100 Howe died today in Akron City Hospital after a long illness. SHOWERS TONIGHT for the eastern Lakes region, Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies. Temperatures will be milder in the West and cooler in the East. AP.

INFANT CARLOS Services were held in Holy Cross Cemetery today for the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. David L. Carlos, 347 Castle who died Sunday at St Thomas Hospital. The child also leaves brother David L.

Mostly cloudy with occasional showers. MRS. IVA SPRACKLIN Mrs. Iva Spracklin, 73, formerly of Akron, died Sunday from Injuries suffered in a two-car accident near her home in Lakeland, Fla. Born in a bin 0., Mrs.

Spracklin lived in Akron more than 25 years. She retired a number of years ago as an assistant buyer at Polsky's with 25 years' service. i SHE WAS active in Lakeland professional business women's clubs and did volunteer work at Lakeland General Hospital. She was also active In the tourist club there. She leaves her husband Walter; a Mrs.

Dorothy Harrison of Cuyahoga Falls; sisters Mrs. Robert McGuire of Cuyahoga Falls and Mrs. Sarah Wertz and Mrs. Leona Hurley, both of Wilmington, brother David Senna of California, and two grandchildren. Services will be in Lakeland, Fla.

Further services and burial will be in Washington Courthouse, 0. Mr. O'Connor, of 1301 Front was the last surviving char ter member of the Falls Rotary Club. The club called him "Mr. Rotary" and established a "Joseph V.

O'Connor Scholarship Fund" in his honor several years ago. Money from the fund is used to help nurses take training in therapy for work with crippled children. Born in Marietta, he formed O'Connor Lumber in 1916 when he and William Schraegle went into partnership. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Moose Club.

For many years, Mr. O'Connor worked with various civic improvement groups which later evolved into the Falls Chamber of Commerce. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Mary Cullen of Cleveland Heights; sons, William and John, both of the Falls; sister, Mrs. Margaret Miller of Mt.

Joy, and 10 grandchildren. Friends may call at Carr Falls Funeral Home after 2 p. m. Tuesday. Other arange- ments are incomplete.

PETER J. KIN Requien Mass for Peter J. Kin, 85, of 720 Greenwood av. will be at 9 :45 a. m.

Tuesday at t. Sebastian Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Mr. Kin died Saturday in Green Cross Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Navarre, Mr. Kin lived in Akron most of his life. He retired in 1957 from Good year, 5 7Z Mr. Kin Born in Point Pleasant, W. Mr.

Fielder came to Akron in 1918 and was employed at Goodrich, Lyons Rubber Co. and India Tire Rubber Co. In 192? he returned to Goodrich and was active in early years of labor organization there. He served as vice president of the URW local at Goodrich, and was appointed head of a union committee to obtain ME. FIELDER membership for a labor representative on the United Community Chest (UCC) board.

In 1945 he was appointed UCC's labor participation director, and held that post and a similar one with the United Fund until he retired in 1964. He was a member of the Adoniram Lodge 517, He leaves his wife Mabel daughter Mrs. Evelyn Zollinger of Stow; son Roy in Minnesota; sisters Mrs. Isa Donhoe of Findlay, Mrs. Clara Dye of Yellow Springs, and Mrs.

Allie Carman of Addison, 0., and five grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.

ALLYN MILLER 'Allyn Miller, 69, for 10 years a patient at Edwin Shaw Sanatorium, died here Sunday. He 1 a brothers Walter and Leonard Selders, both of Akron, and Frank, Robert and Harry Selders, all of West Virginia and sisters Mrs. Freda Bridenstein of Akron and Mrs. Mildred McMullen of Brady Lake. Services are pending at Adams Funeral Home.

They voted unanimously Sun day to continue working on a day-ttf-day basis. While the URW has struck Firestone, B. F.

Goodrich and i a 1 idling 50,000 workers nationwide and 10,300 in the Akron area, Goodyear has continued operating while negotiators attempt to hammer out a new contract. Contracts between the URW and the four companies expired midnight April 20. ABOUT 1,800 of Local 2's members packed Akron Armory Sunday to hear a report of "some progress" on negotiation, according to Local 2 Treasurer David McCann. He said the membership gave the negotiating committee a vote of confidence. Reports of "very little progress" were presented to memberships of Firestone Local 7 and General Local 9.

The URW contract with General expires May 15 and union members will vote Tuesday on whether to give their negotiators power to strike, if necessary, to back demands. MEANWHILE, union and company negotiators returned to the bargaining tables today after a weekend recess. Firestone is meeting in Cleveland, Goodrich in Columbus and Goodyear and Uniroyal in Cincinnati. Goodyear Local 2 President John Nardella requested his membership Sunday to donate to a strike assistance fund to help members of Firestone and Goodrich locals. Collections were to be made on each shift today.

ELSEWHERE a URW local struck Goodyear at Apple Grove, W. after a contract expired a midnight Sunday. Woodrow Pyle, financial sec retary of the local, said about 300 are employed at the plant which makes fiber resin for use in clothing and tires. He said negotiations on a new contract started April 5, but no further sessions were schedueld after the talks ended two minutes before midnight Sunday. Neither Pyle nor local President Robert Albright would disclose the union demands and company negotiators declined comment Crash Kills Two CINCINNATI LW Two per sons a man and a woman were killed and several others injured today in a headon collision of two automobiles on busy River Road (U.

The driver of the Consolidat ed Freightways truck, Burl Blevins, 41, of 2379 Giffels Cuyahoga Falls, suffered arm, leg and hand fractures and lacerations. He is in Holy Cross Hospital in fair condition. ILLINOIS STATE Police said Starks, father of four, was sleeping at the time of the collision.

Blevins was eastbound on U. S. 36 when a truck driven by Clifford Duncan of Montgomery, Ala. turned 111. 104 into Blevins' path.

Duncan also was hospitalized and is listed in "good" condition. He suffered multiple rib fractures. Starks' body was moved to day from Jacksonville to Springfield, Tenn. for services and burial. 3 Injured In 2 Auto Accidents Two weekend traffic acci dents hospitalized three Akron residents.

Listed as "critical" in Chil dren's Hospital is Charles Sehi- ka, 11, of 396 Morningview av. Police said a car driven by his mother, Mrs. Mary Sehika, 42, struck a tree at 396 Newton st. about 11 a. m.

Sunday. Mrs. Sehika is "satisfactory" in City Hospital. The accident is under investigation. aeon Bibbs, 20, of 19 Euclid av is "serious" in Akron Gen eral Hospital after, police said, his car struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Michael O.

Wednesday, 4 Agencies Tell Facts On Adoptions The way to adoptions will be explored at 8 tonight when four family service agencies sponsor a public meeting at the First Congregational Church, 292 E. Market st. Occasion is the annual Children by Choice campaign, directed at potential adoptive parents in the 1 1 y. Questions about procedures and requirements for adoption will be answered at tonight's meet ing.

Services are pending at Ad ams Funeral Home. MRS. HARRIET SPALDING Mrs. Harriet Spalding, 77, died at her home at 1192 Riverside dr. Sunday after a short illnes.

A life resident of Akron, Mrs. Spalding and her late husband ran the old Temple Square Dry Cleaning Co. She was a member of St. Martha Church. She leaves sons.

Maple st, died Sunday in the Cooper Nursing Home after a long illness. Born in Tuscarawas County, Miss Kastor lived in Akron 65 years. She was practical nurse for the Fair Oaks Villa nursing home until it became the Sum mit County Receiving Hospital.

She then did private nursing for a number of years. She leaves a sister Mrs. Mayme Meier of Freelandville, Ind. Graveside services will be at 11 a. m.

died Sunday in Akron City Hospital after a long illness. Born in Marietta, Mr. Jet lived in Akron more than 30 years. He was a truck driver for All-Ohio Express more than 20 years. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 555.

Mr. Jet leaves his wife Pearl; stepdaughters Mrs. Ger-a 1 i Harper of Uniontown, and Mrs. Patricia Ward of Mogadore; stepson Richard Hollister of Stow, and eight grandchildren. Services will be at 3:30 p.
