The connected on 24 of 41 field goal attempts and S3 of 41 free throws including 14 straight by Morris, although one was disallowed because one of his teammates stepped into the lane too soon. Firestone broke the contest open in the second period. In those eight minutes, the Fal-rons built a 17-11 quarter ad-vantage to 41-27.

Maravich poured in 44 points for LSU, but three Wildcat sophs combined for 70. Mike Casey led Kentucky with 29, Dan Issel added 21, and Mike Pratt chipped in with 20. Kentucky, hitting over half its shots the first half, peaked to a 20 point advantage three times, but LSU cut into the margin the second half and trailed by only eight on several occasions.

FLORIDA came from behind on the strength of Neal Walk's 35 points and went on to trip Vanderbilt, 91-85. Florida erased a 14-point first half deficit by hitting 59 per cent from the field the second period in gaining its first win ever on the Vandy court. Walk, a 6-10, junior, now has scored 510 points for the campaign, a new school record. Lew Alcindor and Mike Warren led UCLA to a crushing 101-67 victory over Southern California, Alcindor shredded the nets for 32 points, while at the same time intimidating I ho Trojan shooters and clearing the boards. Warren added 18 markers and led the Bruin press.

DESPITE a poor shooting night, Marshall dropped Bowling Green into a second place tie with Western Michigan in the MAC standings, flooring the Falcons 75-62. George Stone and Bob Redd shared Marshall scoring honors with 19 each, while Walt Piatkowski topped BG with 17. Marshall is 5-3 in league play and 11-6 overall, while the Falcons are 5-2 in the MAC and 11-4 for the season. Louisville maintained i half-game edge in the Missouri Valley Conference and avenged an earlier defeat by clipping Cincinnati 81-65 in Louisville. All-America Westley Unseld scored 19 points and grabbed 25 rebounds despite being hampered with four personal fouls in the first half.
