(Campfield-Hickman, 745-3161.) Steven Pedroff Steven Pedroff, 84, of 195 Samoa formerly of 1824 Thornopple, died Nov. 22 in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Born in Macedonia, Greece, he was an area resident most of his life. He was the owner of the Sun Grill and also the Canton City Bakery for many years. He was a member of the M.P.O. and the St. Elia Macedono-Bulgarian Orthodox Church.

He is survived by sons, George and William of St. Petersburg, Pete of Santa Barbara, daughter, Mrs. Rose (David) Chris of Akron; sister, Mitra; ten grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services Friday, 1 1 a.m., at St. Elia Orthodox Church, Rev.

23. She was born in Cleveland, and had lived in the Akron area 30 years. She taught school in Cleveland. She and her late husband had owned and operated the Lockwood Corners Tas-tee Freeze. She was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church.

She was member of the Wayside Garden Club, and the Copley War Mothers. She was preceded in death by husband, Edwin D. in 1972. She leaves sons. Jack D.

and wife Laura of Copley, Robert F. and wife Irene of LaPorte, three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Michael Friery of West Unity, Ohio; and sister, Mrs. Anita Dewey of Horsehead, N.Y. Mass of the Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. today at Guardian Angels Catholic Church.

Madeline A. Cooke By Tom Ryan Beacen Journal staff writer When Madeline A. Cooke set a goal for herself at the University of Akron, you could be certain she would reach it, according to Larry G. Bradley, head of the university's department of secondary education. Dr.

Cooke, associate professor of education at Akron died Tuesday at Akron City Hospital after a long illness. was one of the most dedicated persons I ever worked with," Bradley said. "She made a number of significant contributions to our department." Kenneth H. Barker, dean of the College of Education, said Dr. Cooke had a special interest in bilingual education.

"It was primarily through her efforts that the University of Akron obtained a federal grant to prepare teachers in bilingual skills," Barker said. "She took a tremendous interest in her job and she did a remarkable job for us." A 1948 graduate of Ohio State University, Dr. Cooke taught Spanish, Latin and English at Bellevue (Ohio) High School for three years. In 1949, she became an instruc-. tor and graduate student at the University of the Americas, Mexi- lingual education program.

DR. COOKE was president of the Ohio Modern Language Teachers Association in 1973-1974 and a member of the board of the Central States Association of Modern Language Teachers in 1975. An Akron spokesman said she was in demand nationally as a consultant and speaker in bilingual and multicultural education. She was a member of professional organizations in her field, in addition to Phi Delta Kappa, the National Education Association, the Ohio Education Association and the Society for Intercul-tural Training, Education and Research. Dr.

Cooke, of Cuyahoga Falls, was an ordained elder in the United Presbyterian Church in the Falls and served at Parma South Presbyterian Church and Cuyahoga Falls Northminster Presbyterian Church. She worked with the Western Reserve Girl Scout Council of Akron and was a member of Akron U's Faculty Women's Club and the Buchtelles. She leaves her stepmother, Lila B. Cooke of Albertson, N. Y.

Services will be announced later. There will be no calling hours. Wood funeral home in Kent is. handling arrangements. Rosa Ann Tate Rosa Ann Tote, 64, of 339 Chittenden died Nov.

21 at St. Thomas Hospital. She was a resident of Akron for 12 years, a member of the Kelly Avenue Block Club, and a member of the Livingstone Apostolic Church. She is survived by son, Leonard D. Boone grandson, Leonard D.

Boone both of Akron; sister, Mrs. Edith Veney of Pittsburgh, uncle, James Edmunds of Gary, cousin, Mrs. Flora Robertson of Chicago, best friend. Sue Van Riper of Akron; nieces; nephews; cousins; and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m.

Linus Vaughn LIGHTHOUSE POINT, J. Linus Vaughn, 74, of 2131 Northeast 42nd died Nov. 22, in Redbank, N.J. A resident of Florida seven years, he was formerly of Barberton. He received his BA from Eastern Nazarene College in Boston, his MA from Akron University, and had worked for the Barberton Board of Education 32 years, serving as principal at Johnson Elementary 18 years, Hazelwood Elementary two years, and Arnold Elementary one year, retiring in 1975.

He was a member of Pompano Beach Church of the Nazarene, and a former member of the Barberton Friends Church. Mr. Vaughn is survived by; wife, Evelyn; son, Russell of Shrewsbury, N.J.; grandson, Joseph; sister, Nellie Nichols of Avon Park, Fla. Cooke then served two-year appointments as a Spanish and Latin teacher at the University of Minnesota High School and Way-zata (Minn.) High School. She then taught Spanish, Latin and English for 14 years in Parma schools. She received a doctorate in foreign language education from Ohio State University in 1969, the same year she joined the Akron secondary education department. As the emphasis on bilingual education rose in America, Dr. Cooke's research, writing and teaching contributed to course development and teaching techniques and led to the school's bi Mr.

Krummel was born in Ak Pearl L. Powell, COPLEY Twp. ron, and was a life resident of the area. He was manager of New Truck Tire Sales Company before 1 retiring in 1974. He was a member of St.

Sebastian Catholic Church, J. L. Vaughn, retired principal Avon Park, and one grandchild. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Campfield-Hickman funeral home in Barberton with burial in Maple Grove cemetery in Andover.

If desired, memorials may be made to the St. Sebastian Parish Foundation. (Hummel, 253-6126.) Classified J. Linus Vaughn moved to Bar-berton in 1935 to become pastor of the Nazarene Church in downtown Barberton. Eight years later, Mr.

Vaughn began a 32-year career as a teacher with Barberton schools. He was a principal at Johnson, Hazelwood and Arnold elementary schools before his retirement in 1975. Mr. Vaughn, 74, died Monday in Red Bank, N.J. For the last seven years he has lived in Lighthouse Point, Fla.

Mr. Vaughn was born in Mun-cie, and his family moved to Ohio while he was a young boy. He was a graduate of Eastern Nazarene College in Boston, and earned a master's degree at the University of Akron. He was a communications officer for the Summit County Sheriff's Office, and was retired in 1975 as a lieutenant with 15 years service.
