Continued from previous page Jackie Lee Meadows Jr. Jackie Lee Meadows of Rancho Cucamonga, of Ravenna and Kent, died Sunday March 30, 2003 frominju- ries sustained in an off road motorcycle accident. Born July 13, 1969 in Ravenna, he was the son of Jackie Patricia (Williams) Meadows. Mr. Meadows was a sergeant in the U.S.

Marines, serving in thePersian Gulf War. He was the current chief operating officer for Aztec Concrete in Fontana, Calif. and the former production manager for Erico Co. in Solon, Ohio. He was a 1987gradu- ate of Ravenna High School.

Survivors include his parents of Ravenna; wife, Melissa (Harold) of California; grandparents, Joe and Patricia Lambert of North Carolina, Alice Osborne of Virginia; nephew, Johnny D. Meadows II ofMaryland; nieces, Chrisie and Katlin Meadows of Maryland; half-brother, Johnny D. (Debbie) Meadows of Maryland. Born in Weirton, W. Va. to the late Pete and Irene Megois, Lee lived in the Akron area most of his life. He worked for Goodyear Aerospace for 33 years, retiring in 1982.Lee also servedin the U.S.Air Force during World War II, was a member of St. George Orthodox Lodge A.A.S.R.

Valley of Canton, D.A.V., and past commander of Park Boat Club and Kenmore Senior Citizens Community Center. Along with his parents, his sister, Mary Davis, precedes Lee in death. Doris L. Murray, 74, of Punta Gorda, died April 3, 2003 at Charlotte Harbor Healthcare in Port Charlotte, Fla. Mrs. Murray was Born Oct.2, 1928 in Akron, Ohio, and graduated from the University of Akron. She was a retired school teacher from the Chippewa School District in Doylestown, Ohio.

She moved to Florida in 1983 with her late husband, Robert J. Murray. She became an active member of Faith Lutheran Church as the choir director. Survivors include her children, Barbara L. (David) Williams of Shertz, Texas, Richard Murray of Doylestown, Ohio, Patricia L.

Cal 330-996-3352. Brother Carl J. Shonk, C.S.C. May 26, 1933 April 1, 2003 Brother Carl J. headmaster of Gilmour Academy and English departmentchairman of Akron Hoban High after a lengthy battle with heart disease at Mount Francis Nursing and RehabilitationCenter in Miami, Fla.

Born May 26, 1933 in Lancaster, Ohio, Brother Carl was the son of the late Paul E. and Anna (Sullivan) Shonk, one of seven children, of whom a brother, David of Omaha, and a sister, Eileen of Bowling Green, Ohio survive. Brother Carl entered the Brothers of Holy Cross on Feb. 1, 1953 in Rolling Prairie, pronounced his first vows a year later, and his perpetual vows on Aug. 16, 1957.

After completingundergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame in 1957, he was assignedto the Holy Cross Missions in Dhaka, Bangladesh until 1960. From 1961 to 1965, he taught at Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, and from 1965 to 1969 at Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron. From 1969 to 1974, he was successively teacher, headmaster at Gilmour Academy in Gates Mills. From 1975 to 1978, he directed School. After a studysabbatical, Br.

Carl began teaching in 1979 at LaSalle-Immaculata High School in Miami, where he remained on the staff until illness forced his retirement in 2000. For severalyears during the same time, he was English department chairman at the high school and adjunct professor of English at Barry University in Miami. In addition to earning a in English at Notre Dame in 1964, Br. Carl did additional graduate studies at nine otherinstitutions, including Ohio State University, the University of Iowa, John Carroll University, and Fairfield University.His administrative knowledge and expertise were often sought in secondary school and Englishdepart- ment evaluations forsuch organizations as the North Central Association and the Southern Association. An outstanding teacher of English, Br.

Carl was publicly honored in 2000 by LaSalle-Immaculata. His reputation as a popular, but demanding teacher, in spite of periodic health difficulties, was enhanced by his outgoing personality, ebullient sense of humor, professional competence, and total dedication to the growth and development of his students. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Monday, April 7, at St. Joseph Chapel, the Cross Village in Notre Dame, Ind. Locally, a memorial service will be held in Our Lady Chapel, Gilmour Academy, 34001 Cedar Gates Mills, at 7:15 p.m., Wednesday, April 9.

During their and Joe traveled extensively worldwide with the Elderhostel program. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, andis survived by her children, Russell Stark of Valparaiso, Martha Fellabaum of Houston, Teddi Garvin of Escondido, sister, Eleanor Fisher of Bradenton, brother, Jerry Ramian of Akron, Ohio; and grandchildren, Emily and Olivia Stark, Zachary and Christopher Fellabaum, and Matthew and Alex Garvin.
