The Wnlhr Our Tlioriiioei- eler Slightly at Fault. In last week's issue, in our item upon the weather, we slaled that on Thursday mominpr of the week previous, our thermometer stood at 16 deg. below zero nt half past five o'clock, and at 12 deg. below at seven o'clock id at 10 deg. below at seven clock on Friday rning.

A gentleman living in the valley, where it should have been several degrees colder than upon the hill where we live, having called the correctness of our thermometer in question, we took the trouble to test It by ono known to be correct. Hang ing them np side by side, for aa hour or two, and obseiving adiscrepency of some seven or eight degrees, we set about finding the cause, and found that the point or hock at the upper end of the tube had been broken off, and that the tube had slipped downward Hpon the scale a quarter of an inch or so, thus ''falsifying the facts" as to the coldness of the weather by about eight degrees. Having brought the tube up to the proper pir.ee, and fastened it there, we'll endeavor to make more accurate reports in the future. Obituary. At a meeting of the First Class of the TJ.
